Inner ear autoantibodies in patients with sensorineural hearing loss.

چکیده
In order to identify the inner ear autoantibodies, sera of 195 patients with sensorineural hearing loss and/or vertigo were reached with bovine inner ear antigen by western blotting method. Positive reaction was seen at several molecular weights, in which 33-35 kD, 42 kD and 68 kD were highly reactive. In moderate to severe hearing loss patients, positive reactions with 33-35 kD, 42 kD, 68 kD and others were 25.8%, 26.8%, 26.8% and 71.5% respectively. On the other hand, a positive rate did not clearly correlate with diagnostic entities. Further study to purify inner ear antigen may evaluate inner ear autoimmune disease.

PReS-FINAL-2348: Identification of autoantibodies against inner ear antigens in a cohort of children with idiopathic sensorineural hearing loss
Immune-mediated pathogenesis has been suggested for idiopathic sensorineural hearing loss. Recent studies have investigated the relationship between idiopathic sensorineural hearing loss and autoantibodies against inner ear antigens. We conducted a prospective, observational study in a series of pediatric patients affected by idiopathic sensorineural hearing loss. Autoantibodies against inner e...

Cochlear nerve (CN) aplasia refers to the absence of a visible CN on oblique sagittal magnetic resonance images of the lateral aspect of the inner auditory canal (IAC). Magnetic resonance (MR) is the preferred technique in patients with sensorineural hearing loss and/or vertigo; however, computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate the IAC or facial nerve canal. Three types of aplasia or hypopl...
متن کاملPseudoexfoliation Syndrome and Sensorineural Hearing Loss
Introduction: Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PXS) occurs due to the deposition of extracellular fibrillar materials on the anterior chamber of the eye. This syndrome has been considered to be part of a systemic disease with the potential involvement of the inner ear called sensoroneural hearing loss (SNHL). In this study, we aimed on evaluating SNHL within PXS patients in Iran to compare them wi...
متن کاملHuman autoantibodies and monoclonal antibody KHRI-3 bind to a phylogenetically conserved inner-ear-supporting cell antigen.
Autoimmunity is thought to be one cause of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). Sera from patients with rapidly progressive hearing loss have been shown to contain antibodies to a 68-kD protein in heterologous inner-ear tissue. Using guinea pig inner-ear tissue as the antigenic substrate and either Western blot or immunofluorescence (IF) or both, we tested sera from 74 patients suspected to have ...
متن کاملSudden Bilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss Following Postpartum Hemorrhage: A Case Report
AbstractThe prevalence of bilateral sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is less than 5% and the etiology of most cases is unknown. Due to many structural and functional similarities between the kidney and inner ear, many conditions, diseases, and drugs have both renal and cochlear effects and toxicities. There are several reports of SSNHL in patients with CRF, uraemic patient, hemodialysi...
